Jonah and Ryann’s story was great and had some heavier emotional beats.
They end up having secret friends-with-benefits thing going on. It's a secret because Ryann’s older brother is super overprotective and he doesn’t want any of the guys on his hockey team even considering a relationship with his sister. It’s no secret that this is one of my least favorite tropes. It was still annoying, but nowhere near as frustrating as others I’ve read. Jonah and Ryann have great chemistry and I really liked the pacing. They really become friends as well as lovers.
I liked Ryann and Jonah as individuals, too. They both had personalities and emotional baggage-lives outside of their romance. I did really like Jonah’s relationship with his dad. I love positive father-son relationships. But I did have trouble remembering whose POV I was in. Their voices weren’t distinct at all.
Thanks for reading!
